Koster KBE Liquid Film

Koster KBE Liquid Film is a solvent-free, highly elastic bitumen / rubber based sealing compound. For high quality external waterproofing of construction members in ground contact, such as basements. Also suitable for waterproofing under protective screed (so called sandwich waterproofing), crack bridging waterproofing of concrete floors, flat roofs and much more. Elongation: > 900 %.

Application:

For foundation waterproofing and intermediate waterproofing on horizontal areas such as terraces, balconies, wet and moist rooms (under screeds), for priming and for sealing the seams and edges of Koster KSK waterproofing membranes in above and below ground construction, and garages.

Elastic waterproofing of areas in ground contact:

Koster KBE Liquid Film is ideal for application over plaster or concrete, flush jointed masonry or Koster NB 1 Grey. Voids, open joints, etc. have to be closed prior to application using, for example, Koster Repair Mortar. In the area of wall/floor junctions, on construction joints and especially in areas at risk of cracking, Koster Superfleece or Koster Glass Fiber Mesh has to be embedded into the fresh first layer.

Prior to backfilling, the coating has to be protected against mechanical damage, for example with Koster Protection and Drainage Sheet 3-400. The installation of a suitable drainage system is also recommended.

KBE Liquid Film is also suitable for waterproofing floor areas against rising damp. Expose the coating to stresses such as movement, water etc., only after the waterproofing layer has completely dried. On horizontal areas, two layers of PE-foil are placed as a gliding layer on top of the cured waterproofing layer before the screed is installed.

Consumption:
1 – 2.5 kg / m²

As primer: approx. 250 g / m². Consumption varies depending on absorbency of the substrate. For waterproofing approx. 0.5 kg – 1 kg per coat. For seam sealing: approx. 1.0 kg / (m * mm layer thickness).
