Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) is mechanical ventilation in the form of Loft mounted Vents or Wall mounted vents in flats and apartments.
Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) draws less humid air in from the loft space, passes it through a filter to capture any dust particles and delivers clean, fresher air quality into the living space.
This in turn, replaces and displaces the stale air reducing the level of humidity. By reducing high levels of internal humidity Condensation and subsequent black mould growth are prevented.
Positive Input Ventilation (PIV) should not be installed as a stand alone solution for ventilation. Most important is to have good quality extract fans in the Kitchen, Bathroom and Utility room and there should be outlets for the stale air to be dispersed such as window trickle vents or through the wall passive backround vents. Window and door openings also help in this regard.
