Wykamol CM8 Waterproofing Membrane available in 2mtrs x 20mtrs (40m²) & 2.4mtrs x 20mtrs (48m²) is a British manufactured product!
This versatile membrane is suitable for waterproofing applications to walls and floors of basements and cellars, to soil retaining walls, arch vaults and for damp proofing single skin walls.
Finish in front of the membrane by battening off the membrane plug fixings or building independent stud frames. Internal supporting walls can also be built of this membrane using helical or bluebird wall ties.
Wykamol CM8 waterproofing membrane is compatible for Type C cavity drain installations in accordance with BS8102: 2009.
It is recommended this product is supported by a Basement Drainage Channel system to a sump/pump system.
This membrane is installed with associated ancillary products such as sealing tapes, membrane fixings, seals, drainage channel. We are qualified to advise on your project and provide full technical support and installation assistance.

Q. What fixings do I use to fix the membrane to a wall?
A. You should use what are commonly called Brick Plug or Quick Seal Fixings. These type of fixings have a hole in the centre of them which will accept a 2″ 10 screw so you can batten off the fixings without puncturing the membrane or, secure walls ties to.
Q. Should the fixings be sealed?
A. Yes, they should. The product you use would be based on how damp or wet the walls are likely to get or become. If you are satisfied they will only ever suffer with some mild damp the you can use fixings with the neoprene rubber seals on them. If the walls are likely to get quite damp or even suffer with ground water ingress we highly recommend that you do not use the rubber seals but instead use a butyl rope to form a seal around the plug head as this product squashes and forms perfectly around the fixing when tapped into the drill hole.
Q. How many Brick Plug Fixings do I need?
A. This all depends on how you want to finish in front of the membrane. If you intend to batten off the fixing plugs the typical fixing centres are 600mm apart by 400mm vertical. You might also use some ‘pinning’ fixings just to secure the membrane to get underway. On this basis, you calculate based on 5 fixings per m2 of wall you are putting membrane to. The other method is curtain hanging membrane because you are not going to build off it due to installing an independent stud frame. In this type of installation you would calculate a volume based on 1 brick plug fixing per m2 of wall space to receive membrane.
Q. What size drill bit do I need for Brick Plug Fixings?
A. You will need an SDS Plus 10mm x 160mm drill bit
Q. What if I puncture the membrane or drill through it but cannot get a fixing?
A. It’s very important that all holes and tears are repaired to stop any vapour, moisture or water ingress getting through it. Simply use a bit of Butyl Rope, Double sided jointing tape or Corner Tape to plug the hole or cover the tear.
