Koster Bitumen Primer 10ltrs

Koster bitumen Primer is a cold applied, low odour, solvent containing bitumen primer. It contains a bonding agent admixture and displays excellent penetration properties. It acts as a dust-binder and as a bonding agent for subsequent hot or cold applied liquid bitumen coatings and self-adhesive membranes.

Suited for all absorbent mineral surfaces, sheet metal, wood, and bituminous roofing felt. It is suited as a primer for bitumen thick film sealants and cold applied self-adhesive bitumen membranes, as well as for over-coating old layers of bitumen (refurbishment of old thick film sealants and bitumen coatings).

The substrate to which the bitumen primer is applied has to be dry or slightly damp, clean, free of grease, tar and oil, and free of loose particles. Damaged concrete and plaster surfaces as well as cracks and holes have to be repaired before applying the primer.

Application:

A thin film is applied to the substrate using a brush, a roller or a suitable spraying device. Following coatings can be applied after full cure of the priming layer. The primer becomes viscous in cold temperatures. Damp substrates, high temperatures or extensive direct exposure to sunlight may cause blistering of the applied primer film due to vapour diffusion.
